Recap - Thing 30!!

I defintely enjoyed this course. I was fairly web-naive when I started, and although I surely wouldn't consider myself an expert now, I do understand a lot more than I did. It was a lot of fun posting pictures and searching the Internet for videos, pictures, blogs, etc.

I would definitely take another on-line course, if offered. It was fun talking about this course with my co-workers!

My Experiences - Thing 29

Jah, lots of fun. Jah, doncha know.

Rollyo - Thing 28

I am bored. Bored I am. I do not like this Rollyo.

Library Thing - Thing 27

I posted about this site already - it's great! This gave me an opportunity to add to my lists!

Thing 26

I went to a German liederhosen site and put Josie's face on a dancing liederhosen. Very funny! But I couldn't figure out how to save it!

Return to Podcasts - Thing 25

I went to the ASU site and also the Denver Library site. I can see how podcasts would work extremely well in a scholastic environment. Putting lectures into a podcast (or vodcast) could be extremely useful to students who either weren't at the lecture or who would like a chance to review it. I know when I was in college many students taped the lectures for later reference - putting the class into podcast format would eliminate this.

As far a libraries...putting children's stories on the web in podcast formats is a wonderful idea. You can download the stories and save them for later if you want to. This is a great tool for getting children to listen to stories and use their imaginations.

Podcasts - Thing 24

Today I added an RSS feed to my Bloglines account after searching through a podcast directory. I thought this excercise was minimally interesting...

YouTube - Thing 23

Here is my video from YouTube:

I had a lot of fun using retrievr - you draw a sketch in whatever color you want and it gives you three thicknesses of drawing. Then it searches for photos that come close to what you drew.

Flickr Tags - Thing 21

Tags are important because they act as subject identifiers that organize all the photos on the site. Including tags makes it easy for users to search for photos of a particular interest rather than scrolling through endless pages looking for pictures that pertain to their idea.

There were many interesting pictures on the site. Here is one I liked:

Web 2.0 - Thing 19

What a great site! I chose "Library Thing" under the subcategory of "books". The blog allows you to list all your favorite books, rate them, and add comments. It also lets you talk to others who have read the same books - it's a lot of fun.

Technorati - Thing 18

The bad thing about Technorati is that it leads to a lot of browsing and lost hours! It was a lot of fun trolling around and reading people's posts.

Folksonomy - Thing 17

I had a lot of fun on del.icio.us - looking at all the different bookmarks is great fun. Being able to put individual tags solves a lot of problems for searchers, and as always, it creates a few, too. But, it's a lot more fluid than being held to certain criteria search words created by someone else. By being able to add your own tags, individuals' bookmarks may appeal to a general audience or to those only "read on" to the tags' vernacular. It's a great tool!
